Anglo-Saxon bead based on the find from Linton Heath Grave 72, Derbyshire

A singularly attractive bead with two swags of blue and white twisted cable on a coral glass ground, this bead was from an excavation in 1854, at Linton Heath in Derbyshire, where the occupant of the grave was described as having:
"141 beads lay about the neck; eighty of
these are of blue glass, one of jet, four of amber, the rest
of differently coloured vitrified paste."
It was common then to refer to any glassy items as paste, due to the lack of understanding how the beads were made.
There is little information about the appearance of the other 140 beads, but we will keep looking.
